Meet Our Founders

Sara Vargas and Ally Vargas are sisters who are fulfilling a lifelong dream of opening a Preschool together.

Their mission is to foster a nurturing and inclusive early learning environment that lays the foundation for lifelong success. Their approach blends rich, play-based and hands-on exploration with intentional, developmentally informed instruction, ensuring that each child is known, supported, and appropriately challenged.

Professionally, Sara has worked in early childhood education for the past decade as a classroom teacher and, more recently, as a part-time preschool director. She holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and Political Science from Lesley University and a M.Ed. in Moderate Disabilities from Boston College.

Ally brings a strong background in business, with a B.S. in Business Administration from Babson College. She also brings three years of classroom experience as a preschool teacher, where she developed a deep understanding of children’s learning, development, and individual needs.

Together, Sara and Ally bring complementary experience, passion, and perspective to Mimi’s Manor Preschool. As co-owners, they are committed to creating a warm, inclusive community where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn and grow.

Our Namesake

Mimi’s Manor Preschool is named in honor of Sara and Ally’s late grandmother, Ann Murphy, who was a lifelong educator and an inspiration to them both.

Mimi had a gift for making learning feel like an adventure. She encouraged curiosity, created endless opportunities to explore, and believed that there was always something new to discover. Whether it was reading The House of the Seven Gables and then taking a trip to tour the house itself, or baking cookies to learn fractions she had a way of turning everyday experiences into a chance to learn.

She encouraged Sara and Ally to follow their interests, supported their passions wholeheartedly, and made sure they knew that their ideas and feelings mattered. She also believed that children thrive with clear expectations and consistency, setting firm boundaries while always enforcing them with fairness, understanding, and care.

Her legacy reminds Sara and Ally that children deserve to feel loved and supported, that their interests should be celebrated, and that their learning should be joyful and lifelong. These are the values they continue to carry through Mimi’s Manor Preschool.

Mimi had three pieces of advice that she shared often: always leave a place better than you found it, lead with kindness, and never stop learning. At Mimi’s Manor, those words are more than family values; they are part of the spirit we hope to pass on to every child who walks through our doors.
